Just last month, Facebook rolled out one of its newest features – Facebook Messenger Day. If you’ve heard the name but have no idea what it entails, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s take a look at what Facebook Messenger Day actually is, how you can use it for marketing your business, and why you should consider giving it a try. What is Facebook Messenger Day? Facebook Messenger Day is a new feature within Facebook Messenger that’s similar to the popular platform Snapchat. It is available for both iOS and Android users and allows users to update their friends on their ‘Day’ with images and videos.
So how do I use it? To use Facebook Messenger Day, you’ll need to have the Messenger app installed on a mobile device. Once it’s installed, you’re ready to go. From the Messenger dashboard, you’ll notice the new ‘Add to Your Day’ button in the top left of your screen. Tap it, and you’ll be prompted to take a photo or video using the in-app camera. You can also access your library to upload alternative photos, as well as having the option to create ‘text only’ updates. Once you’ve selected your image, you can add filters, emojis, drawings or text to personalise it – just like on Snapchat. Then, you can select who you want to send it to, whether you’d prefer to send it to individuals or simply publish the content to your day by tapping the circle next to ‘My Day’. After selecting your audience just tap ‘Send’ and you’re done! It will the be visible for 24 hours. How can Facebook Messenger Day be used for marketing, specifically? There are several ways you can use Facebook Messenger Day as part of your social media marketing campaign. Here are just a few ideas to get you started!
  • Use it to share things as they happen – for example, photos and videos of live industry events or special events at your store or business premises.
  • Use it to send out an update or some breaking business news that your followers will want to hear about ASAP.
  • Use it to develop a personal relationship between you and your audience – taking into consideration the fact the snippet will come from your personal profile rather than your page’s. This is an easy way to create brand awareness with people who know you but may not yet be involved with your brand. For example, show your ‘real life’ friends what you get up to at work – and encourage them to head on over and like your brand’s page for more great content.
These are just a few ways to use Facebook Messenger Day as a marketer, but as with all content, don’t hesitate to get creative and think up new ways to use it for promotion.
