As a social media marketer – or simply anyone with an interest in social media – you’re probably always on the look out to try out a variety of social networks.
But one that’s often overlooked as a social network is Quora – a site that focuses entirely on questions and answers.
What exactly is Quora?
Have you ever visited Yahoo Answers? Probably. Well, Quora is a little like that, but instead of any random person being able to answer your question, it will be answered by experts and industry authorities who actually have the skills and know how to back up their answers.
Plus, the Quora community can vote for the best answer and ensure that all irrelevant or incorrect answers are eliminated.
Quora is self-described as a “continuing collection of questions and answers created, edited and organised by everyone that uses it.” And we’d say that’s pretty accurate!
How can I use Quora for business?
Sure, it sounds like a great place to get your questions answered by the pros – but how can it be used for business? As it happens, there are many ways you could benefit as a business owner or social media/digital marketer!
1. Find and develop content ideas.
If you’re looking for inspiration for your blog or social media posts, why not take a look at Quora? It can work a treat for market research, showing you what your demographic wants to know about. Note down a few of their questions and create valuable blog posts that your audience could benefit from reading.
2. Discover experts to network with.
Quora is full of experts looking to establish and expand their authority in your industry, so this gives you a good chance to connect with them – both on Quora and beyond. You never know – they could become valuable business contacts in the future!
You can also use the advice of these experts to learn more about your industry. While you may be an expert in your own right, you should always keep an open mind to learning new tips and tricks.
3. Develop yourself (and your brand) as an industry authority.
If other experts can do it, there’s no reason you can’t too. Take the time to answer some of the questions related to your industry – essentially proving that you know the facts. You can also add links to your website when appropriate, as well as linking directly to your other social media pages from your Quora profile.
No matter how you choose to use Quora, as long as you feature the right links, your real name and provide honest, accurate answers, you’ll be well on your way to making a name for yourself and your brand online.
